AA: Eco-driving techniques are not "un-cool" for young drivers

Young drivers may be able to save money and get cheaper car insurance if they employ some eco-driving techniques, it has been claimed.

According to the AA, this can be doubly beneficial to drivers because not only are they helping the environment, but they are also likely to be reducing the costs of driving.

One of the best ways to do this is to anticipate what is happening on the road ahead of them and then react accordingly so that they do not have to break or accelerate especially hard.

Andrew Howard, head of road safety at the AA, said that "as a young driver, he won't see the benefit as driving in an un-cool way, he might see the benefit when being eco-friendly will save him money".

Road safety charity Brake has released figures which show that one in eight motor vehicle licence holders are under the age of 25.
