British holidaymakers are apparently becoming increasingly adventurous on holiday, according to a new study.
However, Cater Allen has warned that those on active holidays need to be aware of the extra travel insurance costs involved.
Trekking was named by respondents in the bank's poll as the most popular activity for Brits abroad, with 26 per cent naming this as their preferred way of taking time out.
In second place was scuba diving, accounting for 12 per cent of responses.
Richard Dunn, managing director at Cater Allen, said the survey reveals a move away from traditional beach holidays to more energising excursions.
He advised: "Adventure style holidays can lead to potentially higher costs such as increased insurance, costs of adventure activities and fuel surcharges on long-haul flights."
Another recent poll by Cater Allen revealed that 57 per cent of British holidaymakers are shying away from destinations where they expect badly behaved compatriots to be.
