People are being reminded to make sure they make sure their belongings are adequately insured against loss or damage.

Easier.com reports that Cheshire Building Society are keen to stressed that the summer weather mean consumers are increasing their purchase of expensive outdoor goods such as patio furniture, slides, BBQs and trampolines. However, they need to remember to update their home insurance policies to ensure such items are covered - especially when left outside.

"Many homeowners regularly leave items out in the garden overnight and garden theft increased considerably in the summer months last year, so it's important to review your insurance policy to make sure you've got adequate cover," said Karen Torson, product manager at Cheshire Building Society.

Meanwhile, the AA is stressing that it is important for homeowners to make sure their current home insurance policy is valid before undertaking an major DIY work this summer just in case of any accidental damage.
