The recent crash of the Air France 447 has highlighted the need for travel insurance, claims a key provider.

Good Neighbor Insurance, which offers worldwide cover, believes that having a valid travel insurance policy could reduce the cost and stress associated with unforeseen incidents.

Jeff Gulleson, president of Good Neighbor Insurance, stressed that even though such accidents are very rare it is important for holidaymakers to make sure they plan ahead.

"Tragedies like the Air France tragedy are a time of great stress and loss for a victim's family," explained Jeff Gulleson, president of Good Neighbor Insurance.

"It can be a comfort to know that whatever remains are found will be brought home without the family having to worry about cost or arrangements."

travel insurance can help to cover the cost of medical evacuation as well as emergency treatment and loss or the theft of belongings while away from home.

Tesco Travel Money recently reported that many consumers are shopping around for their travel insurance cover in order to find the most competitive priced policies during the current economic downturn.
