Britons may wish to ensure they have breakdown insurance in place if claims from one company are correct.
According to easier.com, more cars are expected to break down on Monday 5th January than any other day of the year.
This is because many people will leave their cars parked in freezing conditions for several days over the new year period when they are not driving to work.
As a result of this car batteries could fail to start, motors could be burned out and those with diesel engines could find that heater plugs need replacing.
Martin Mosley of Car Parts Direct said, "The combination of freezing weather and vehicles parked up always finds the weaknesses of a vehicle."
He expects Monday to be his company's busiest day for years.
Fool.co.uk recommends that people make sure their car is in good working order before making any long trips over the festive period.
