Older parents who are happy to welcome their "boomerang generation" children back into the family home should ensure they have considered home insurance cover, according to one industry commentator.
Andrew Goodsell, executive chairman of the Saga Group, made his comments as the home insurance provider issued figures indicating that 31 per cent of parents over the age of 50 have welcomed their grown-up children back into their homes.
The company suggested that many people's kids have moved back home as a result of the ongoing economic downturn and urged people to take this into consideration.
"Don't forget the financial implications of moving home, such as the cost of food and energy bills and any increase in insurance cover that may be needed for extra valuables in the home," he concluded.
Earlier this month, Saga noted that the Mini is one of the most popular cars among car insurance customers over the age of 50.
