People looking to get on the housing ladder and begin shopping around for home insurance are being advised to do so now.
This is because, according to iammoving.com, the cost of completing a housing transaction has dropped significantly.
The company believes that although it is unlikely that property prices will get much cheaper, the UK is now "in the zone of affordability".
Simon Preston, chairman of iammoving.com, said: "I would think that if you want to buy residential property for reasonable capital gain, then [buying] something in the next 12 months makes sense."
He warns that if people wait much longer to purchase a home, then it is probable that prices will have risen again.
This month, Halifax reported that housing in the UK is now at its most affordable level for nearly seven years and typical mortgage payments have also fallen.
