Car checks help reduce need for breakdown assistance

People may find they have to make fewer calls to their breakdown assistance provider if they check their cars between annual MoT services.

Almost a fifth (19 per cent) of those polled by Kwik Fit revealed that they rely on the yearly service to find any faults with their cars, which could be putting them at risk.

With difficult weather conditions for driving in on their way, the organisation emphasised that it is more important than ever to keep on top of car maintenance.

Chief executive Ian Fraser commented: "Last winter was the most severe for many years, and lots of drivers were caught out … drivers can't rely on checks carried out in spring or summer to keep them safe for winter driving."

The Met Office warned earlier this week that snow is likely to sweep the nation over the coming days, with large parts of Scotland and north-east England already affected.ADNFCR-1789-ID-800256921-ADNFCR
