A month-long anti-speeding campaign has led to the conviction of more than 100 drivers in the Burley area.
The Wharfdale Observer reports that the Speedwatch operation run by Police Community Support offers and civilian volunteers has left many motorists facing fines. Any additional licence points could increase car insurance premiums.
Carried out in April, the scheme caught a total of 144 speeding drivers across roads in Burley and Burley Woodhead. In many cases, the motorists were found to be breaking the speed limit in 20 mph zones.
The Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "Many more similar operations are planned throughout the ward area and we would urge drivers to be aware of speed limits and drive appropriately."
HPI, the leading vehicle information organisation, has recently launched a new campaign to increase the detection of motorists who drive on UK roads without valid car insurance cover.
In partnership with the police, it means that drivers caught without the correct car insurance policies will have their vehicles seized.
