Many Brits are likely to be battling their way through the traffic if they are planning to make any trips this weekend, one cheap car insurance provider claims.
Research by esure found that 54 per cent of people are planning to go away this bank holiday weekend.
What is more, this May holiday looks set to be far worse than last year in terms of traffic, as one in three say they will be travelling for longer distances meaning that an estimated 10.6 million motorists will face delays.
Mike Pickard, head of risk and underwriting at esure, said: "Planning ahead, travelling off-peak and choosing a route that avoids roads surrounding places of interest, shopping malls and seaside resorts are good ways to beat the queues."
In related news, an AA poll shows that 60 per cent of drivers think that crime has become increasingly violent in recent years.
