Many car insurance customers believe they would be unable to pass their driving test if they took it again, results of a new survey have revealed.

A poll conducted by the AA found that one in two drivers think they have lost the skills needed to pass a test.

Parallel parking was discovered to be a technique forgotten by 37 per cent of motorists, while 20 per cent claimed they do not signal properly or forget to properly check their mirrors.

Furthermore 17 per cent admit they have forgotten some of the rules and regulations of the Highway Code.

Edmund King, president of the AA, said: "Having passed your driving test it is easy to forget the key skills that qualify you to be on the road in the first place."

In other motoring news, the AA Personal Loans Car Purchase Index shows that most people are currently purchasing cars to replace old motors.
