A new road safety campaign is hoping to raise awareness that using mobile phones while driving could risk lives.
Bridlington Free Press reports that Safer Roads Humber is keen to stress that using a phone behind the wheel could have severe consequences - and could dramatically increase car insurance premiums.
Project manager Mick Harris explained: "It's important that drivers are not distracted whilst they are driving.
"Today's mobile phones are more than just a way to speak to someone, they have a range of features whether it is texting, taking photos or checking the status of our friends on the net."
He added that if a call is very important then drivers must pull off the road in order to answer and remember to switch off their phone once they continue on their journey.
Meanwhile, Comma, a car care specialist, has launched a new roadshow to help encourage the UK's 30 million drivers to understand basic motor safety.
