Worries about travel insurance or mortgage repayments are not only affecting adults, it seems.
New research by LV= has discovered that over two-thirds of children aged between eight and 18 in the UK are aware that there is a credit crunch going on.
Furthermore, they know what its implications are in the run up to Christmas and over four in ten expect to receive fewer or cheaper presents this year.
Mike Rogers, LV= group chief executive, said: "Children are surprisingly clued up about the credit crunch and the impact it is having on Christmas and on family life generally."
It was also discovered that 27 per cent of children say their parents are spending less at the supermarket and 15 per cent said their mum and dad do not go out as much.
Parents who are feeling the crunch may want to use comparison sites to shop around for car insurance as they offer a convenient way to look at prices, Mintel claims.
