Sellers of country houses need to make sure they are not unrealistic about how much money they receive for their property, one expert has suggested.
At a time when getting a mortgage is still quite difficult, Hadley Lyas, director at Fine & Country Homes, said buyers are looking for something that is worth its money.
"Where the properties are sticking in the market is when clients or vendors are wanting to try and push a price too high," he advised.
Mr Lyas pointed out that any property over £3 million is taking a considerable amount of time to sell at the moment, so setting a price above this generally needs to be avoided.
Only when a home has something particularly unique about it can a figure over £3 million be considered, the expert added.
The £1.5 million to £3 million country homes market is doing well at present, the Buying Solution recently claimed. |
