Many couples in the UK are not managing their finances with a joint current account, new figures from Nationwide show.
The building society found that more than half (53 per cent) of couples do not pay their salaries into a joint bank account, while 22 per cent admitted to having an account their partner knows nothing about.
Furthermore, only around ten per cent of couples were revealed to have recently changed their current account.
Almost half (44 per cent) of the couples interviewed said that getting married and moving in with a partner are the two times that a current account review is most necessary.
John Crossley, head of current accounts at Nationwide, said: "As we move into new stages in our lives we should be taking the opportunity to re-organise our finances, shop around to look at new accounts which may better suit our new lifestyles."
He also emphasised that people need to think about disposing of any financial products that they may no longer need. |
