Even in the aftermath of the global economic downturn, Britons have not warmed to savings accounts, it has been suggested. John Miles, business development director at GoCompare.com, pointed out that the UK still lacks a strong savings culture. Although the recession had served as a wake-up call for many workers, people's response to it had largely differed, he added. Mr Miles explained: "A genuine savings boom will probably require a cultural change in the way we view savings as well as greater confidence in things like banks and pensions." His comments follow in the wake of a recent data released by YouGov, which show that consumers were still losing out a lot of money by failing to make use of discount vouchers available to them. It was also found that 29 per cent of Britons still left a tip at restaurants even though they were not happy with the service meted out to them. |
