A DJ has recommended that travel insurance should be made compulsory after he was injured while on holiday aboard.
The Derbyshire Evening Telegraph reports that Dean Willis, 23, from Derby, suffered from leg fractures and burns when he fell off his moped while on holiday in Malia.
Now he is calling for people to be legally required to take out travel insurance as his cover paid for his treatment abroad but not that received on his journey home.
Instead, his friends and family had to raise the money.
Mr Willis said: "All of that effort would not have been needed if I had just had travel insurance in the first place."
He added that holiday companies and airlines should be responsible for ensuring people have travel insurance when they sell tickets.
The Association of British Travel Agents recently found that many people who took a holiday abroad recently are planning to jet off again within the next 12 months.
