Delivery van insurance customers 'could benefit from new deal'

A new van insurance product could help delivery drivers reduce their insurance costs.

van insurance provider Adrian Flux believes that small businesses that make regular deliveries to customers should not face limited policies that could reduce their effectiveness to provide a service.

In many cases, delivery van insurance policyholders are limited to between three and five delivery drops per day because of a perceived increase in risk.

"Many insurance companies are cautious when it comes to offering cover on vans for busy small businesses. They seem to think that frequent stops and starts during delivery runs equate to higher risk," explained Julie Carter of Adrian Flux.

However, Adrian Flux has discounted this risk and believes that other factors such as make of van and the number of years the van insurance customer has been driving are more crucial.

Last month, the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) stressed that motorists should not retaliate if they are the victims of tailgating because it could lead to accidents and increase insurance premiums.
