Drivers 'could reduce car insurance' by concentrating on the road

The AA has issued advice to young drivers on how they can avoid accidents and stay safe on the roads – which may help to reduce the cost of their car insurance.

Head of road safety at the firm Andrew Howard said that the most important thing for people to do is concentrate and keep their mind on the road at all times.

This is because driving is not about showing off, but travelling "from A to B" without getting noticed on the road.

Mr Andrews believes that this is the definition of a competent motorist.

"A good driver isn't someone where people say 'my, he can control a car in reverse and in forward and go really fast'," he added.

AutoTrader.co.uk has published research which revealed that 41 per cent of motorists admit to talking or texting while driving, while 72 per cent eat or drink behind the wheel.
