A new driving academy is set to open in the UK this summer and the school could play an important part in reducing car insurance premiums for motorists.
The Mercedes-Benz driving academy is especially hoping to encourage younger drivers to develop awareness and improve their skills. Based at Mercedes-Benz world in Weybridge, Surrey, the academy will even offer courses to drivers aged between 12 and 16 years of age as well as providing modules for those who have already passed their driving test.
The company claim that a similar initiative in Sweden has helped to significantly reduce the number of accidents involving young people who have recently gained their licence.
Peter O'Halloran, managing director at Mercedes-Benz World explained: "The Mercedes-Benz Driving Academy provides young people with the skills and thought-based experiences that go beyond the requirements of just passing the driving test and prepares them for the actual demands of driving on the public roads."
Research by the AA recently concluded that many car insurance customers feel that they would be unable to pass their driving test if they were forced to retake it.
