Banners attached to road safety signs advertising events such as birthdays are putting motorists' lives at risk, a council has warned.
According to Powys council in Wales messages written on sheets and paper attached to important road signs were a "real hazard ".
Officers have been removing such banners and replacing ones damaged by the use of heavy duty tape.
The council is even considering approaching people responsible for the banners and asking them to pay for any damage caused.
Covering signs with posters creates a real risk, said Councillor Gwilym Evans who is head of road safety in Powys.
He told the BBC: "By covering up these signs, a motorist would be unaware of a potential hazard they are approaching and this could lead to an incident that could result in personal injuries or worse."
Drivers can simply not be safe enough on Britain's roads, as the attacks on road signs reveal.
Therefore it is essential to drive with car insurance in case of an accident or even death.
Last year approximately 23,000 road accident injuries involved uninsured drivers. Looking for cheap car insurance quotes? Click here! |
