Fiat safety could 'appeal to van insurance customers'

A new safety feature could improve the control and grip of vans, claims Fiat.

The new system called Traction + will be available on the 1.3 MultiJet SX diesel version of the Fiorino van and the 1.3 MultiJet Combi.

Fiat claims that the upgrade package, starting at £750, will ensure better driver control in tougher conditions and is ideal for van insurance customers looking to drive in snowy, muddy or hilly environments.

"Traction + will prove an extremely useful system for customers who need an extra element of grip from their Fiorino in conditions where a 4x4 vehicle would be too much and two-wheel drive is not enough," explained Gerry Clarke, director of Fiat Professional.

He added that the system does not increase maintenance costs or raise fuel consumption levels so is an ideal upgrade in the current economic climate.
