People who fall ill while overseas could find themselves footing a rather large bill if they have not taken out travel insurance, Sean Tipton, spokesman for Abta - The Travel Association has warned.
He emphasised that many people will not cover themselves in order to save a few pounds, but this will likely prove a false economy in the long run.
"Whether you are on holiday or visiting family, or on a business trip, there is always the possibility that you could fall ill, or have an accident," he commented.
The expert stressed that medical care can be highly expensive overseas, especially in countries such as the US, so travellers must take measures to financially protect themselves.
Foreign and Commonwealth Office figures reveal that youngsters heading abroad are more likely to leave home with a gift for their host than a travel insurance policy. |
