People who consider their gardens to be valuable need to make sure they have home insurance in place to protect their belongings, one company has said.
Just over a fifth (21 per cent) of people believe their gardens are valuable, Hiscox found, while 53 per cent are planning some landscaping work over the next six months.
Furthermore, eight per cent of respondents said they are thinking of purchasing new outdoor furniture.
The insurer warned that not only are these items at risk of theft, but also other potential problems such as being damaged by weather conditions.
"It's crucial that these items aren't forgotten when arranging your home insurance policy, as favourite items - a luxury furniture set, exotic plants and sophisticated gardening equipment - can be costly to replace," commented Austyn Tusler, high-value household insurance expert at Hiscox.
He noted that people should check their home insurance policies to see what level of cover they offer and make any amendments as necessary. |
