Get personal liability cover with home insurance, esure urges

Personal liability cover can provide peace of mind in the event of an accident and therefore it can be a good idea to ensure it is part of any home insurance policy.

According to esure, the risk of accidents can be increased as people get busy with DIY projects over the Easter Bank Holiday.

The firm claims that a poorly-laid patio or loose brickwork can cause accidental injury to relatives or visitors and they can then make a claim against the homeowner.

Having adequate home insurance can put minds at ease if negligence is proven as legal costs will be covered, esure explains.

Mike Pickard, head of risk and underwriting at esure home insurance, said that "having ample buildings and contents insurance, plus accidental damage cover to foot the bill of any DIY mishaps, is definitely worthwhile".

Home and contents insurance can also cover the contents of a garden including any furniture plus plant pots and shrubs, Marks and Spencer advises.
