Halifax has announced that its customers will now be able to chat online to a sales adviser to get instant help and support when deciding on the best protection for them.
People can either click on an option to join the webchat or the facility will automatically make itself available to anyone who looks as if they are experiencing difficulties.
Head of marketing for Halifax home insurance Sarah Cowx said: "We have seen a dramatic increase in the number of people completing the quote process and purchasing cover online since the webchat facility was launched."
She also said it avoids people having to abandon the process and reach for the telephone if they need help getting a quote.
People have been reminded by several insurers to make sure their home insurance covers the extra Christmas presents they may be storing over the festive period.
