Holidaymakers 'realising importance' of travel insurance

An increasing number of holidaymakers are recognising the importance of taking out travel insurance, an industry expert has said.

Having the right cover in place is crucial, emphasised Oliver Broad, chairman of Aito Specialist Travel Agents, who highlighted the benefits of picking the best policy for their needs.

Opting for a company that will provide the maximum protection no matter what the circumstance is important, he suggested.

Mr Broad's comments follow figures from TripAdvisor's Travel Trends Survey, which show one in ten Brits plan on taking more holidays in 2011 than they did this year.

Furthermore, 28 per cent of people admitted they are more likely to buy travel insurance in the new year than they have done over the course of the last 12 months.

The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office also recently found that 31 per cent of people fail to take out cover when embarking on winter sports holidays.ADNFCR-1789-ID-800277162-ADNFCR
