Getting the right kind of home insurance may be more important than ever for some Brits as the truth has been revealed about how many are afraid of being burgled.
Research conducted by Halifax home insurance has revealed that 64 per cent of respondents are kept awake at night over concerns about theft.
A further 55 per cent are concerned about the threat of identity theft or fraud, while 45 per cent say they worry about malicious damage and 44 per cent have fears over house fires breaking out.
Martyn Foulds, senior claims manager at Halifax home insurance, said: "Whilst the country shares some of the more typical fears, the way we tackle these concerns can vary greatly.
"We all have our own home comforts - in many cases it's the age old methods, such as locks, lights or having a dog," he added.
The Association of British Insurers recently stated that the cost of fire damage in the UK is increasing.
