With car insurance prices going up and home insurance to be paid for during the credit crunch, it seems as though finances could be on the mind of many Brits at the moment.

This has been supported by research from financial services firm Edward Jones, which discovered that the global recession is an issue people are concerned about.

The poll revealed that the world-wide economic downturn was the number one concern for 27 per cent of people.

Ranked equally worrying was being made redundant, while 16 per cent said that mounting government debt was on their mind.

Tim Kirley, the UK principal of Edward Jones, said: "The results of this survey show it is economic factors that are on individual's minds today."

In order to save themselves some money during the credit crunch, many Brits are now growing their own vegetables and drinking tap instead of bottled water, a survey from Egg.com recently revealed.
