Car mechanic experts Kwik Fit have launched an online campaign to highlight some of the most common mishaps committed by motorists.
The new Foolproof website has seen a multitude of embarrassing stories and tales of motoring absentmindedness from drivers all over the UK.
Kwik Fit set up the website after research by the British Insurance Brokers' Association found that around 150,000 drivers put the wrong fuel into their cars, leading to repairs that can cost between £150 and £5,000.
Separate statistics have shown that 15 per cent of all breakdowns are caused by foolish mishaps, such as accidentally puncturing tyres or breaking car keys.
Martin Oliver, managing director of the firm, said: "We developed the Foolpoof product and website to highlight to people how common these little every day mistakes are and how expensive they can be."
