There has been an increase in holidaymakers looking for last minute deals, claims a flight comparison site.
Skyscanner has reported a rise in user traffic in May as people feel more confident about taking a trip abroad this year despite the downturn of the UK economy.
Traditionally, the company has seen its highest levels of demand at the beginning of the year as people plan ahead for their summer vacation. However, this year Skyscanner has reported a 24.5 per cent rise in traffic compared to January.
Barry Smith, Skyscanner director and co-founder, explained: "The tough economic times may be changing the way people book travel, but they are definitely still travelling, even though financial uncertainty may make them more cautious about booking a long time in advance."
According to Skyscanner, the top three search destinations are currently Malaga, Alicante and Palma as Brits opt for sunny resorts.
Meanwhile, the British Insurance Brokers' Association is stressing the importance of travel insurance this summer and urging holidaymakers not to neglect cover in order to save money.
