Many Brits 'do not think about garden security'

It is likely that many home insurance customers do not have a good attitude towards garden security, new research has shown.

A poll by esure home insurance discovered that nine in ten homeowners leave items such as jet washers, children's toys and garden tools outside at night.

Most people claimed that a lack of storage was the reason why they did not lock their belongings away securely.

Around one-third of respondents also admitted that they often store non-outdoor items outside due to a lack of storage space in their home.

Mike Pickard, head of risk and underwriting at esure, said: "Brits may spend a great deal of time, money and effort on making their gardens attractive but they also need to think about security too."

The insurance company recently urged home insurance customers to make sure their policy covers them if they are doing outside DIY projects this Easter.
