Men may be driving up the cost of their car insurance or increasing their risk of having an accident with their attitudes towards drink driving.
Research by car insurance firm Diamond has revealed that one in ten males consider themselves to be fit to drive after consuming between three and four units of alcohol.
In comparison, one in 100 women think they would be safe after drinking this much and none considered themselves able to drive after consuming five units or more.
Diamond managing director Sian Lewis said: "The danger with stronger and larger drinks is that they can easily push you over this limit, so the best advice, if you want to avoid a fatal accident, prison sentence, driving ban or large fine, is not to drink at all."
Meanwhile, esure has revealed that one in six people traveling to the continent this Christmas make assumptions about driving in Europe which could affect their car insurance.
