Many drivers could be running the risk of increasing how much they pay for their car insurance because of drink driving, a new study has found.
Research conducted by the AA discovered that 80 per cent of respondents believe they may have been over the limit while driving the morning after a night of drinking.
Therefore the organisation is reminding motorists to be particularly careful this New Year if they are going to be out and about on the roads.
It was found that drivers aged 25 to 34 were most likely to consider the chance that they may be still be over the limit after drinking the previous night.
Chief Inspector Donald McMillan, head of road policing for Central Scotland Police, said: "This just gives me more drive to work towards stamping out this irresponsible behaviour which causes people to die and suffer life-changing injuries on our roads."
Earlier this month, Diamond found that many men believe they are fit to drive after consuming between three and four units of alcohol.
