A new guide launched by the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) could play a key role in reducing claims on bike insurance policies. It is hoped that providing advice on how bikers can improve their driving skills could help to lower the number of accidents on UK roads and ensure lower bike insurance premiums for riders.
The guide, written by IAM's staff examiner John Taylor and motorcycle titles editor Stefan Bartlett, focuses on defensive riding and aims to educate motorcyclists on how to deal with a number of difficult manoeuvres and situations.
It is also expected to form part of the IAM's advanced riding course and is aimed at experienced as well as new bikers.
IAM chief examiner Peter Rodger said: "The advice is contemporary, topical and fully accessible to riders, whatever their level of skill and experience."
Last month, the Metropolitan police organised a special Bike Safe Event aimed at providing road safety to bikers in a bid to reduce accidents as well as bike insurance claims.
