Older holidaymakers 'reminded about home insurance'

Holidaymakers planning to save money this summer by staying in the UK are being advised to make sure they still take out the right home insurance policy.

Age Concern Insurance Services has urged older homeowners to take care that they take the right steps to protect their homes before going away, including ensuring that valuables are not left on display to tempt burglaries.

Some home insurance policies can also cover the cost of valuables that are taken on holiday and could be ideal for older travellers planning a UK trip.

Joe Young from Age Concern Insurance Services said: "We are reminding all holidaymakers to take extra care when taking a break and check that their home insurance policy covers them appropriately, both in and away from the home."

Swinton recently stressed that parents of children should ensure they have the correct home insurance in place as claims for accidental damage often increase during the long summer holiday period.
