Those taking out cruise ship or travel insurance could find they end up paying more because of the threat of pirates, it has been reported.
According to the Guardian, the failed attack on luxury American cruise liner MS Nautica this week has highlighted that piracy may be a real threat to the holiday boats.
Because of this, the cost of insurance may increase although it is unlikely that the costs of cruises will go up, Rich DeSimone, president of Travelers Ocean Marine insurance, said.
"One of the greatest impacts on insurance rates is increased exposure. And if you have increased exposure to something like piracy, it's going to result in higher costs," he added.
Yesterday it was reported by the Scottish Daily Record that Post Office Travel Services is encouraging people receiving plastic surgery abroad to ensure they have the correct travel insurance.
