One organisation has stated that it is the duty of price comparison websites to provide a quality service to consumers purchasing home insurance or travel insurance.
The Association of British Insurers (ABI), claims that the sites need to provide a "meaningful service" which allows people to make the right choice when it comes to buying financial products.
Malcolm Tarling, media relations officer at the ABI, believes that people need to be made aware of any extra costs they may have to pay, not just the price of the premium.
He said that "it is important when anyone buys insurance from one of these sites that they are given very clear guidance and helped to understand what exactly it is that they are buying".
Meanwhile, a study entitled the Price is Right, published by Mintel, revealed that one in four users of price comparison sites searched for home insurance while 24 per cent looked at travel insurance.
