Putting cash in savings accounts 'hard' for youngsters

Many young people find it difficult to put money away in savings accounts every month, an expert has said.

Unemployment is so high among this age group, while those who are in jobs are likely to be at the bottom end of the pay scale, noted Annie Shaw, editor of CashQuestions.com.

"If you are saving for a rainy day, just get into the habit and save a little bit if you can," she advised.

Ms Shaw stressed that young people should never think it is not worthwhile to set money aside, as there may be a time when they need a little extra cash.

Having a bit tucked away in a savings account or current account is better than ending up in debt, highlighted the expert.

Just putting away a couple of pounds a week could make all the difference in the long term should the unexpected arise.ADNFCR-1789-ID-800924758-ADNFCR
