A campervan rental company is successfully benefiting from the current economic downturn.
According to the Gloucestershire Gazette, Campers Away has seen a rise in demand as more families opt to save money by holidaying in the UK rather than abroad.
Tod and Naomi Millard made the decision to hire out classic Type 2 campervans after the credit crunch impacting on their originally business of restoring the classic vans.
"I could not see the benefits of the rental market to start with but now I understand why it has caught on," said Mr Millard.
He added that it can cost up to £15,000 to fully restore a 1970s van plus the ongoing maintenance and van insurance costs. However, renting a camper once or twice a year costs a lot less and is more affordable for many camper fans.
Campers Away is already fully booked up for July and August and even had enquiries from potential customers who are travelling from overseas.
According to new figures from Tesco Travel Money, it would appear that many Brits are also shopping around to reduce the cost of their annual travel insurance as well as opting for cheaper holiday destinations.
