Rightmove: Being proactive is key to selling property

A proactive approach could help to sell a property more quickly in the present climate, according to Rightmove.

The property information resource explains that a climate in which homeowners are not pressured to sell can result in "stale" properties entering the market.

Commercial director Miles Shipside comments: "Property becomes stale and the seller becomes stale.

"So you get the worst of all worlds really - then they do blame the market rather than their price."

But in order to sell a property quickly and at the desired price, he argues that more proactive vendors could be better positioned to find success.

Meanwhile, research from property valuation site Zoopla! reveals that some Britons could be left needing to address their household insurance over the coming year.

Almost one in five (19 per cent) expect property overall to rise in value, while 38 per cent believe their own home will outpace the rest of the market, a survey by the website found in October.
