A new survey has revealed that those purchasing car insurance are often angered by other road users when driving.
Research by swiftcover.com found that 88 per cent of motorists are enraged by other drivers when on the roads and nearly a quarter claim to get angry every time they get in their car.
The most common cause for this is fellow motorists who do not indicate followed by middle lane drivers who avoid the slow lane on the motorway.
It was found that drivers often respond to irritations by flashing their lights, swearing or sounding their horns.
Tina Shortle, marketing director at swiftcover.com, said: "It was clear that certain driving habits were far more likely to make people irate than others, so I hope drivers take note to make their driving as safe and considerate to other road users as possible this Christmas."
According to Norwich Union, many people lie to their providers in an attempt to cut the cost of their car insurance.
