STA Travel: Facebook allows travel insurance customers to exchange ideas

It is believed that many young people are embracing technology and using social networking sites such as Facebook to exchange ideas about holidays.

According to STA Travel, this means that people are becoming more adventurous when it comes to deciding upon the destination and type of holidays they take, with action trips in particular doing well.

In order to pay for travel insurance and finance their trip, figures from the company show that holidaymakers are willing to cut back on other extras, with 60 per cent wanting to get away for at least a week.

A spokesperson for STA Travel said they would sacrifice "things like shopping abroad, entry to nightclubs and car-hire in order to still be able to afford to get away".

The Co-operative Travel recently revealed that women consider going on holiday to be a higher priority than their male counterparts.
