Saga: Caravans will not be properly covered by car insurance

Brits have been warned that if they are planning to take a caravan holiday in the UK this summer, their mobile home will not be covered by their car insurance policy.

Research from Saga has revealed that many motorists incorrectly think that if their caravan is attached to their motor, it will be covered.

In fact, the car insurance provider reveals, it will only be covered under a third party policy.

This means that any damage a person does to their own caravan will not be included.

Andrew Goodsell, chief executive of the Saga Group, said: "Separate caravan insurance is vital when using your caravan and ensures that even if the holiday takes a turn for the worst, you won't be left out of pocket."

In related news, Ian Ralph, director at UKCampsite.co.uk, has said he does not think the government's new car scrapping scheme will have any effect on motor home sales.
