Halloween may be over for another year but some people could still be paying the price if they did not have home insurance, new figures show.
According to research by Saga, seven per cent of home owners have to pay out for damage caused by trick or treaters.
While the average repair bill is £117, one in ten of these unlucky people have to pay more than £250.
Andrew Goodsell, Chief Executive Saga said: "For most people Halloween will end without incident - but for a few it may be an expensive night."
Egg-throwing is reported as being the most common prank endured by homeowners although three per cent of those asked said they have been the victim of malicious or harmful tricks.
As Bonfire Night approaches people are also being advised by Cheshire Building Society to make sure their possessions are covered by their insurance policies in case of any damage caused by fireworks.
