Many Brits are putting more money into their savings accounts than ever before, new research has revealed.
Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks discovered that 28 per cent of people are saving more than they did 12 months ago, while many are doing all they can to boost their coffers.
Unwanted gifts are being sold by 7.5 million people on eBay, while almost 750,000 admitted to going to car boot sales to get rid of items.
Meanwhile, 18 per cent of respondents said they have told their partner that they have a savings account but have not disclosed how much is in it.
Steve Reid, retail director for Clydesdale Bank, said: "I am glad to see that we are also putting money away to treat ourselves and our families be it holidays, home improvements or a new car."
Parents were recently advised by Dave Rodgers, managing director of the Debt Advice Foundation, to start putting money away for children sooner rather than later. |
