Brits have been advised that whatever type of holiday they are going on this summer, there will be a travel insurance policy suitable for them.

Holiday travel insurance UK lists some of the various vacations catered for as skiing or snowboarding holidays or backpacking trips.

The later, the company explains, is especially useful as people can receive discounted cover for a whole year which is ideal if they are a gap year student, travelling to Europe or taking an extended overseas holiday.

James Roy, insurance advisor at Holiday travel insurance UK, said: "Normally, special packages offer the best deal as they offer the product at a limited duration. This means that for all those people who travel a lot, this holiday insurance aspect is a necessity."

InsureandGo recently claimed that people who failed to take out travel insurance last year ended up paying a total of nearly £90 million in costs.
