Tips offered 'to people buying travel insurance'

Brits packing their bags and buying travel insurance ready to jet off on their holidays have been offered some money saving tips ahead of their trip.

Tesco Travel Money suggests that setting a budget and putting aside a small amount each month is the best way to save up for a holiday.

Shopping around for the best deals, whether they be for travel insurance or exchange rates and commission for currency, is also a good idea.

This should not be left until the last minute as changing money at an airport or on a ferry often proves to be far more expensive than planning ahead and getting currency in advance.

"Don't just rely on your debit card when you get there. Cashpoints can be few and far between in more remote places and if you withdraw multiple small amounts, you will be charged a fee each time," Tesco also advises.

Medical problems are the most common reason for people to make a claim on their travel insurance policy, the AA recently revealed.
