Drivers who have been in a traffic accident have been offered tips on how to make their car insurance claim as stress-free as possible.

According to Admiral, people should try and remain calm and avoid arguing about who was responsible for the collision, as this is up to the car insurance providers to decide.

Motorists are also advised to take photographs of the damage to both cars and the location of the incident before getting the full name, address, telephone number and car insurance company of others involved.

Stuart Morgan, claims director at Admiral, said: "Being in a car accident, no matter how minor, is very stressful and it's easy to panic.

"By following these tips you should be able to make the incident less traumatic for yourself and make your subsequent claim run more smoothly."

Which? Car magazine recently advised drivers that shopping at motorway services stations can often prove to be very expensive, with a cappuccino costing around £2.99.
