Car insurance customers have received further reassurance from Toyota that the manufacturing of the new Auris Hybrid in the UK will be completed to the highest qualtiy standards. The vehicle manufacturer's production will be carried out by employees that have been specially trained in hybrid vehicle manufacturer and wider environmental issues as part of a Level2 NVQ-approved qualification. This will ensure workers are up to date on handling high voltage elements of the car's engineering specific to hybrid vehicles, ensuring that the parts are installed correctly. The announcement comes just a week after Toyota confirmed that the new Auris Hybrid will be built to new high quality standards "at every stage of the manufacturing process". Included in this plan are newly implemented quality processes and systems that apply from the design studio concept through to full production. Toyota UK deputy managing director Tony Walker said: "It means we are the first in Europe to have the skills and knowledge needed to manufacture full hybrid vehicles. "And with Toyota's strategy to progressively expand its full hybrid technology to more models, TMUK will be well placed potentially to produce them." Included in the qualification are practical study elements such as verification of new product designs using a trial vehicle, applying problem solving techniques during model introduction and evaluating standard operating procedures during hybrid production. Toyota was forced to recall millions of vehicles globally this year, after an engineering fault was established in a number of models. The recall hit US, UK and Japanese customers in particular, with some even involved in accidents or potentially hazardous vehicle failures while their cars were moving. This prompted Toyota to rethink its quality control techniques and incorporate these ideas into its brand strategy to prevent consumers losing confidence in the Toyota label. |
